Tennessee residents who are required to comply with the state’s sex offender registry program must pay close attention to a myriad of small details. At times it may well feel like some of their basic privileges are gone forever.
This may well be what one woman in Chattanooga feels after being arrested for failing to check in with authorities in a new area after moving there. Reports explain that 14 years ago, the woman is said to have been charged with aiding and abetting the molestation of teenage girls. She was also reportedly involved in taking pornographic pictures of girls and sending them to sailors in the U.S. Navy. Two men were also said to be part of the acts. She served a prison sentence and completed probation.
She had been living in Tennessee but then apparently moved to Florida. Part of the Tennessee sex offender registry requirements stipulated that she was legally bound to check in with authorities in Florida as soon as she moved there but she did not do that. For this reason, she has now been arrested. It is not clear what the penalty for this offense might be.
Defendants who try hard to move forward positively after serving their criminal sentences yet find themselves facing more criminal charges might find it helpful to talk with an attorney. This can give them information with which to make the best defense choices possible.
