Rape is a very serious sex-related crime. Each of these crimes has specific elements that must be present if a person is going to face criminal charges.

Who is considered a sex offender?

A sex offender is a person who has been convicted of certain sex crimes. In some cases, sex offenders are required to register with law enforcement officials when they are released into the community after serving their prison sentence.

How are sex-related crimes charged?

Sex-related crimes can be charged as state-level crimes or federal-level crimes, depending on the circumstances. One example of a sex-related crime that might be charged on a federal level is the production or distribution of child pornography. Generally, interstate sex-related crimes are charged on a federal level.
