Channel 9 news reports that Chattanooga Police officers have arrested a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputy. The 23-year-old is apparently a corrections officer who has been booked into the Hamilton County Jail where he works.

According to the news report, the officer is charged with burglary of a business and vandalism.

HCSO says he was off-duty at the time he was arrested.

Channel 9 reports that the suspect in the parking garage of a Cherokee Boulevard apartment complex that is listed as his home address. Chattanooga cops were apparently called by an apartment employee who reported that an intoxicated man was wrecking property.

When officers arrived and started searching the structures, they found drops of blood scattered in several areas. They then located the corrections officer reportedly in a pick-up truck in the parking garage.

According to the arrest affidavit, the HCSO deputy had blood on his hands and arms and appeared intoxicated. However, he was apparently cooperative and was taken into custody.

One of the Chattanooga officers recognized the deputy from a call earlier in the day when the deputy was getting into a woman’s vehicle. She told the responding officer that the deputy was “fine” and that she was giving him a ride home.

According to the arrest warrant, Chattanooga officers found extensive property damage at the apartment complex, including damage to 14 vehicles, including two vehicles with smashed windshields.
