When a crime occurs, police in Tennessee and other areas of the country often rely on eyewitnesses to help them determine who committed the crime. However, many people's views are often skewed due to the shock of an unexpected event. Despite this, police say they were able to track down a man who they believe committed drug crimes, among others, based on eyewitness testimony.
The incident that lead to the man's arrest is said to have occurred one evening in early August. Reports indicate that police arrived at a scene in which a car -- said to have been stolen -- had crashed into a tree and telephone pole. Incident reports indicate the driver had left the scene before police arrived.
However, officers claim they were able to identify the alleged driver, a 27-year-old man, from descriptions given to police by witnesses. Investigators say they eventually located a suspect who was taken into custody following a short foot pursuit. Police believe that he was on methamphetamine at the time and say he had knives in his possession when arrested. The man has since been charged with reckless driving, failure to report a crash, DUI and evading arrest. Reports indicate that additional charges are anticipated.
Unfortunately, those facing suspicions related to drug crimes and other criminal charges may be unaware of their rights. Because the criminal justice system can be complicated and confusing, many people who are arrested in Tennessee often feel uncertainty about their rights and options. As a result, they seek guidance from a professional who has experience with such cases and can assist them in making informed decisions about their case.
