Drug and alcohol charges face baseball coach

Being arrested on suspicion of criminal activity such as drunk driving can be a very scary event for Tennessee residents. Many situations can factor into a person’s ability to drive properly or to pass a field sobriety test. Failing these tests does not necessarily tell the whole story. Defendants should always remember that simply being arrested does not mean they will be convicted.

That is what a 52-year-old man from Clarkrange today must be considering. The man was recently arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including driving while under the influence of alcohol. Reports indicate that he was originally pulled over by police because he crossed over the white dotted line between two lanes. He also did not use his turn signal when he was changing lanes. Upon being stopped, officers asked him to take tests as they suspected he may be drunk.

A police dog allegedly found materials in the man’s truck that led to charges in addition to a DUI. Possession of drug paraphernalia as well as of a controlled substance was among the additional charges. It is unclear what the potential penalties would be for each of the charges he faces. It is also not known if the arrest will have any impact on his job. The driver works as a sports coach at a local high school.

People in situations like the above may want to talk to an attorney to understand their options for a defense. Navigating the challenging waters of a DUI arrest can be difficult without legal representation.
